The Śiṣya

The Śiṣya is a Burning Man 2016 art piece about transformation and loss designed and built by Krista Sanders and Rob Bell.

The Śiṣya is a hybrid Zome design in which the central 16' tall, 45 degree pitch, 12 frequency Zome has had two opposing quarters peeled away to reveal the spirallohedral interior and creating two spiral arms which guide the participants into and out of the central structure.

Each of the approximately 250 panels is carved with intricate detail on each side and was sanded by hand.

This was the first Zome to burn at Burning Man. The design coerced the flames into a spiral form and spawned many convection tornadoes.
